Remember when we were kids and there was a shelf of canned goods in the pantry that the labels had fallen off of? Remember how exciting it was to open a surprise can? I can remember the scenario...
"Mom, Mom, Mom, Mom can we open a surprise can?"
"Only if you are going to eat whatever is in it."
"....WHOOOOoooo Mom said we can open a surprise can" I scream out as I tear down the stairs and around the corner into the pantry.
My inner dialog says "Oh the choices, oh the choices. I think I'll take this one. No this one. No.... I will take that one. Yeah thats the one!"
"Ohhhhh man, I hope its a good one!" Returning upstairs as though it was Christmas morning and I was about to get a great treat.
"Here it is Mom", handing the chosen can to her with pride and confidence that whatever was inside was my new best friend.
I can picture my anxious eyes watching intently as she opened the can. The intensity increasing with every crank of the old rusty can opener.
"Ok, here it is" Mom says, handing me the can.
"uhhhhh, what is it?" I ask looking inside.
"beets" replies Mom.
"BEETS!!!"
"Ohhhh mannn. Mom can I open another surprise can?"
What does surprise cans have to do with Mom and Dads new blog title???
Well we are going to give the winner a Surprise BOX!*
Thats right. All the excitement of a can only like 20 times BIGGER!
Do do do do da da... It's starting to feel a lot like Christmas. =)
Its not what's inside that is so valuable its the excitement that goes along with it. That is the real prize here.
